Negotiating Disability in the Welfare State

Post-Doctoral research project: Negotiating Disability in the Welfare State: Policy and Everyday Life (Fötlun í velferðarríkinu Íslandi: Stefnumótun og daglegt líf) was a multi-year ethnographic research project (2009-2011) awarded to Dr. James G. Rice at the Centre for Disability Studies, University of Iceland. The project was carried out in Iceland and focused on three key research areas: (i) employment participation of disabled people; (ii) defining and understanding disability; and (iii) the intersection of disability with ethnicity. The project was a part of Nordic Centre of Excellence (NCoE): Reassessing the Nordic Welfare Model (REASSESS).
